Okanagan Spirits takes gold

Okanagan Spirits has done it again.

The year of success continues the BC’s local distillery after winning five gold, one silver and two bronze medals at the World Spirit awards on Wednesday.

They also defended their gold medal award of their exclusive Laird of Fintry Single Malt Whisky.

"Chris was literally weighed down in medals with the amazing sweep of eight awards! Talk about owning the podium" said CEO Tyler Dyck, who is currently at the awards at Asbach Distillery in Rüdesheim am Rhein, Germany with distiller Christopher Burke.

The Laird of Fintry Single Malt Whisky started making noise when it was sampled by the Duke of Cambridge Prince William during his visit to Kelowna.

It currently holds the title of being the first Canadian Whisky to receive a gold medal at the World Spirit Awards.

"As a craft distillery that specializes in producing 100% BC spirits, we are proud to keep proving our quality on a global scale and continue to showcase what B.C. and Canada is capable of in the world of craft distilling," said Dyck.

Other notable winners included Taboo Absinthe, Aquavit, Blackcurrant Liqueur and Haskap Liqueur.
