Teenage (career) angst

Teenagers in Kelowna will be treated to an event catered to help them explore their passions and ambitions.

On April 1, teens will be able to learn about axe throwing, wake boarding, breaking into show business and meeting a celebrity.

Kelowna is the ninth city to host TeenFest in Western Canada.

“TeenFest is an opportunity for teens to explore new interests and connect with old and new friends,” said Ali Berman, founder of TeenFest Canada.

“The event brings together community leaders, employers and local businesses so teens are able to explore a variety of interests and find out about what options the future holds in a supportive community setting."

The fun-filled day will also allow teenagers to discover different programs that are offered around the Okanagan.

A variety of educational institutions, including Centre for Arts and Technology, MC College and Okanagan College will be at TeenFest to discuss their program offerings with interested teens.

Actor Madison Smith will be returning to his Kelowna hometown to talk to teens about breaking into the acting business.

“I think TeenFest is a fantastic platform for the youth to engage with their communities. I wish there was something like this for my friends and I to attend when we were in high school because I think it would have made a difference to many of my peers,” said Smith.
