Don't play with scissors

Some friends at Dr. Knox Middle School were reminded of a valuable lesson Wednesday.

Don't play with scissors.

While some were concerned over a reported 'stabbing' incident at the school, it turns out some friends were playing a game that got out of hand.

"It was an accident," said School District 23 Supt. Kevin Kaardal, who explained the students were playing Pictionary in an area around the main counselling foyer.

"They started getting silly, one kid had a pair of scissors in his hand and accidentally cut the other student as they were dodging and diving around one another. It was not in any kind of an aggressive way. Just horseplay."

Kaardal said the school took all the necessary precautions. The student was sent, by ambulance, to KGH and received two stitches for the cut.

"It was a little unsafe," admitted Kaardal. "They are addressing the issue today."
