Penny for your thoughts

Madison Erhardt

It's been four years that the penny hasn't been in use, and a new poll has found Canadians don't seem to miss the copper coin.

"Most Canadians are happy with the disappearance of the one-cent coin from their currency," says pollster Insights West.

The poll showed that 73 per cent of residents agree that there is no need for the penny.

There is now talk about eliminating the nickel, but most Canadians aren't onboard with that idea.

When asked if the five-cent piece should be taken out of circulation, 58 per cent of Canadians think the nickel should stay.

Castanet reporter Madison Erhardt hit the streets asking what you think about the penny being gone for good.
