Prospera sign of the times

As Castanet first reported back in November, an electronic sign is in the works for Prospera Place in Kelowna.

The proposal will come before city council Monday.

The sign would be similar to one approved recently for the Rotary Centre for the Arts.

It would be flush to the facing of the arena, facing onto Water Street. The current fascia sign band would be removed, replaced by six digital signs.

The proposal is supported by staff in a report prepared for council.

However, several conditions have been placed on the application.

These include:

  • No use of full motion video or the appearance of animation or movement or visual effects
  • Copy shall not be shown that requires viewing or reading over a series of sequential copy messages in a single display
  • No third-party commercial advertising

According to the application, messaging would be limited to tenants within Prospera Place and upcoming events.
