Volunteers with the Kelowna RCMP's Citizens on Patrol are out in full force, blanketing mall and retail parking lots to remind people to protect themselves from vehicle theft this holiday season.
“The general public can expect to see our highly visible COP volunteers patrolling parking lots in marked volunteer vehicles and handing out 'Don't Be an Easy Target' holiday edition tip cards, while they are busy shopping for their family and friends,” states Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey. “These men and women have generously donated their time during the weeks leading up to Christmas to help ensure that your gifts make it all the way under the tree.”
“Please make sure you greet and thank our volunteers for their invaluable service to our community,” adds O’Donaghey.
Kelowna RCMP are hoping the public can avoid having to buy their gifts twice, by locking their vehicles, removing valuables and reporting suspicious activity to police.
