Biohazard removed

The Kelowna Fire Department's Hazmat team was called out to Rutland late this morning.

The team was called after someone noticed a container lying at the side of the road near Hollywood and Hollydell roads.

Platoon captain Dennis Miller says the container was clearly marked as a bio-hazard.

He says the container was sealed when it was found.

Crews contacted the Ministry of Environment for proper protocol, then hand delivered the container to the ministry for safe disposal.
