Stabbing victim recovers

The victim in a Kelowna stabbing Sunday night is still recovering from his injuries, while police continue to look for witnesses.

Just before midnight, police responded to the Chevron gas station on the 300 block of Harvey Avenue after a man showed up with stab wounds.

Police believe the attack was in retaliation to an assault on a woman that had occurred earlier that evening in West Kelowna.

A short time after finding the stabbing victim, police identified the suspect, 31-year-old Ken Butler, on the 1300 block of Water Street.

Butler has been charged with attempted murder and remains in custody. He appeared in court Wednesday morning, and will appear next on Dec. 22.

Cpl. Jesse O'Donaghey with the Kelowna RCMP says police believe the stabbing took place on the 400 block of Leon Avenue.

“If you were in Kelowna’s downtown core any time between 11 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 4, and 12:30 a.m., Monday, Dec. 5, and saw anything suspicious that may be of interest to police during that time frame, you are asked to contact Const. Bob Moon of the Kelowna RCMP Serious Crimes Unit at 250-470-6295,” said O’Donaghey in statement.
