Truck fire scorches the milk

It was not the type of warm milk you might want right before bed.

A 48-foot Dairyland trailer caught fire in downtown Kelowna Saturday evening.

Emergency personnel were called to the triple-axle truck fire at Harvey Avenue and Richter Street at 10:40 p.m.

Witnesses tell Castanet the driver was able to detach the trailer from the truck in the HOV lane before fire crews arrived and put out the blaze.

RCMP were also on scene and shut down Highway 97 northbound until the fire was extinguished.

Firefighters were seen utilizing foam to knock down the fire and police told one witness it was the truck driver’s first day on the job with this company.
