Bird blows a fuse

A bird got caught in a transformer near Kelowna General Hospital Saturday morning, blowing a fuse and knocking out power in the area for a short period of time.

A resident in the area said they heard a loud bang at 7 a.m., before the power went out.

A FortisBC representative said this is consistent with the bird blowing the fuse.

FortisBC says only a handful of people were impacted by the outage, and the power has now been restored.
