These are exciting times at Interior Health as time ticks down to the official opening of its new downtown office centre.
The planting of trees and other landscaping measures over the past few weeks signals exterior construction is almost complete.
"It's an exciting time because the construction is going really well. We are definitely on time and on target for completing the building in time for our move," said Interior Health finance director Darold Sturgeon.
By and large, only interior construction remains to be complete on the four-storey office tower at the busy corner of Doyle Avenue and Ellis Street.
"There is a lot of millwork on various floors, and other floors are getting prepared for our folks to help with information technology services to be installed."
It's expected IH will take possession of the building sometime in late October or early November.
Once they do have occupancy, it will take a few months to fully integrate all 800 employees into the building.
Sturgeon said it will be an integrated move that could take until early 2017 to complete.
Decisions have not yet been made as to which departments will go in first.
Construction on two other sites on the intersection are also moving closer to completion.
Expansion of the library parkade is already partially open. Earlier this month, 130 stalls on the third, fourth and fifth floors were opened.
The entire expansion is expected to be complete and open by the end of October.
Across the street, construction is winding down at the Memorial parkade.
Infrastructure director Alan Newcombe said some of the spaces in the 566 stall parkade could be ready for use by the middle of September.
The last piece of the construction puzzle, the Okanagan Centre for Innovation, is set for substantial completion Nov. 27
