Hot to trot this weekend

It’s the weekend you’ve all been waiting for, a hot and sunny three days filled with temperatures above 30 C.

Environment Canada is forecasting Friday to be sunny with UV index of eight, or very high, and temperatures about 31 C. Those in Kelowna can expect a light haze in the air for the day and a humidity index of 39 per cent.

Saturday is expected to be even warmer as the mercury reaches 35 C with clear skies.

Sunday will start to cool off, as the clouds roll in and the Central Okanagan dips back down to 31 C.

Starting Monday, temperatures will return to the seasonal normal of the upper 20 C, with clear sunny skies.

Temperature records were broken across B.C. on Thursday due to a strong ridge of high pressure.

The Squamish area took hold of the top temperature with a new record of 36.4 C the former record was set last year at 31.3 C.  

No records were set in the Okanagan.
