Impaired boating ads on ice

A provincewide boating campaign is now in the Okanagan and not just centred in the Lower Mainland.

Preventable BC has wrapped an ice chest with an anti-drinking and boating message in Kelowna.

The campaign was launched at the start of May, but only targeted 15 ice coolers in the Vancouver and Vancouver Island high-traffic marinas, with the message "If you think drinking and boating is a good mix, have a word with yourself.”

Currently the ice chest at the Eldorado Marina has been wrapped, and there are plans for additional advertising by July 11.

Shelter Bay Marina and the Anglemont Marina are to also feature ice chests that display the wrap advertising.

In addition, transit shelter ads in Kelowna will be displayed at the following locations:

  • Enterprise Way and Spall Road
  • Bernard Avenue and Richter Street
  • Sutherland Avenue and Gordon Drive
  • Gordon Drive and Raymer Avenue

The drinking and boating message will also be displayed in all BC Liquor Distribution Branch stores throughout the province during the month of July.

The campaign targeting boating and drinking will run until the September long weekend.
