Quad rollover injures one

Another ATV accident has landed a local man in hospital.

On Saturday at about 9 p.m., BC Ambulance responded to a report of an "quad rollover" near Crooked Lake at the end of Beaver Lake Road in Lake Country.

“Paramedics responded via one ground ambulance and one patient was taken to hospital in serious condition,” says Preet Grewal with BC Emergency Health Services.

According to a man who was on the scene shortly after, the victim is well-known ATVer in the area that was badly injured and broke his neck in two places.

“They said the quad flipped three to five times end to end,” said the man. “He is still in the hospital, said it will take weeks to see if he gets any better.”

According to the witness, the man was riding a brand-new machine and something broke on the machine itself causing him to flip.

He also says the accident happened in an area right near where a friend of his, Kelly Todd Rooy, died in an ATV accident six years ago.

In 2014, another ATV rider was airlifted to hospital from the same area.
