Keep on food truckin'

A food truck rally was held at the old Boyd Autobody parking lot on Leon Avenue near Water Street Thursday night.

Hundreds of people showed up for the event, which included several food trucks serving up a variety of cuisine and a beer garden.

Quinn Best, the founder of the Leon Night Market and owner of the neighbouring Habitat music venue, has big plans for the monthly event.

“We think it’s really important to start that conversation about what are we going to do to change this perception of this area of town that seems to get a bad rap,” Best said. “This small group of food trucks is making a big change on Leon Avenue at the Leon Night Market.”

In lieu of the $3 entry fee to the event, attendees could donate a piece of clothing to the nearby Kelowna Gospel Mission.

Best plans to hold the event regularly on the third Thursday of every month.

The rally runs again Friday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., with a whole new lineup of food trucks.
