Police looking for more info

A bizarre attack in Rutland has left neighbours concerned and police searching for more information.

On Friday, Castanet heard from a woman who described an upsetting scene of a father hitting and pushing a young child late on Houghton Road, near Ben Lee Park.

RCMP attended the scene, the subjects were gone by the time they got there.

Since that story was posted, Castanet has received multiple tips that the fight was not between a father and son, but rather a man and a very petite woman.

Several readers say the two were loudly arguing over drugs and that the man pushed the woman to the ground and struck her, while she tried to fight him off.

"He ran and threw her to the ground and was hitting her. He got up, and she was hitting him and then after that she was searching the ground for what I believe was drugs," wrote one witness.

"We witnessed what seemed to be a jealous quarrel between a younger couple over drugs," added another.

Const. Jesse O'Donaghey says police are continuing to investigate the reports.

He says additional information from the public would be appreciated as they try to piece together the story.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300 or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477, leave a tip online at www.crimestoppers.net or texting a tip to CRIMES (274637) ktown.
