The inside tale of busking

From juggling, to singing, to magic, the stories of street performers is an interesting tale, and one a Kelowna based entertainment company is about to tell.

Visland Media is set to start production on original series titled ‘Buskers’, which will feature 13 episodes. Alex Miller, CEO of Visland Media, says Buskers is a travel series that showcases the performances and stories of street performers from around the world.

While Visland media is working on several projects, including Assignment Adventure with Sean Talbot, Buskers will be the first series to go into production.

The production team is currently shooting in Panama and Belize, and will soon be off to Mexico, Poland, the UK, Israel, Cuba, the U.S, and of course here at home in Canada.

“This is exciting news not just for us, but also for the industry here in the Okanagan. We've worked for a long time to make this a reality and couldn't be happier,” says Miller.

Visland Media is collaborating on the project with Igal Hecht and Aaron Mandel of Chutzpa Productions, based in Toronto. Hecht is known as the director of the critically acclaimed documentary The Sheik and for producing eight seasons of the docu-series Muzika.

Hecht says he is excited to work with Visland on the project and has  tentative plans to come to the Okanagan to shoot another project with them later this year.

Miller says filming will take place over the next six months, with post production in the fall and the Buskers premier set for early 2017.

“In addition to a number of domestic broadcasters the series has already garnered interest from at least one major U.S. broadcaster,” he says. “Visland anticipates that due to the global interest in the subject matter the show will ultimately air in dozens of countries around the globe.”

Visland Media is a Television Development and Distribution company based in Kelowna, BC.
