Elderly woman struck

An elderly woman was sent to hospital after being struck by a car driven by a senior driver at Richter Street and K.L.O. Road Tuesday morning.

The gold Hyundai was turning left from the westbound lane of K.L.O. into the southbound lane of Richter at 11:30 a.m.

The woman was in the crosswalk when she was struck.

“The light was green for the turning vehicle, but I’m not sure about the advance green,” said Const. Lise Marion of the RCMP. “We’ll be looking at charges.”

A witness who saw the accident said the car hit the woman directly.

“I did see her hit broad-on the car and go up in the air,” she said. “So it looked kind of grim.”

A second witness said he saw the struck woman bleeding from the mouth.

Police said the woman was injured, but did not know the severity of her injuries.
