Art gallery robbed

UPDATE 10 a.m.

RCMP continue to look for two men who robbed the Turtle Island Gallery Tuesday at about 5 p.m.

According to Cpl. Joe Duncan two men entered the store, locked the door behind them, brandished a weapon and stated 'we are taking all your gold'.

“Suspect one took the store employee to the rear of the store while the second suspect loaded a black back pack with merchandise. The men then fled out the front door through a parking lot and split up.”

The first suspect was subsequently tackled by four concerned citizens but the culprit managed to get away and ran off. The second suspect was last seen getting into a blue/grey SUV and driving off east on Cawston Avenue.
 
Suspect one is described as:

  • 45 years old
  • Scruffy face
  • Thin build
  • 6'1 (185 cm)
  • Dark blue hoodie
  • Darker "SWAT" baseball hat

Suspect two is described as:

  • 40 years old
  • Darker complexion
  • Larger build
  • Blue coveralls
  • Bright orange safety vest

Police made extensive patrols in the area however the suspects were not located.

Police are confirming there was an armed robbery at Turtle Island Gallery on Tuesday, about 5 p.m.

Corp. Joe Duncan says the suspect is still at large.

Turtle Island Gallery features Northwest Coast Art at its location on Cannery Lane behind Prospera Place.
