Money stolen from eatery

A local restaurant is asking the public’s assistance in identifying the person responsible for taking a mason jar filled with an undisclosed amount of cash from their front counter.

SliderZ Community House, located on Bernard Avenue, captured video of a man in a white shirt enter the establishment on Saturday about 7:30 p.m., and allegedly take a jar filled with receipts and cash.

The video then shows the man entering a washroom, where he stays for several minutes before exiting the building.

Cpl. Joe Duncan says RCMP are investigating and can confirm an undisclosed amount of cash was taken from the restaurant.

Jonny Greenhalgh, with SliderZ, says the money was mostly a collection of tips from the evening and it is not known how much the suspect took off with. Greenhalgh is also wondering if other businesses were targeted on July 31, and is looking to speak with anyone who may have had an incident with the alleged suspect.

The suspect is described as:

  • A Caucasian man
  • Mid-thirties
  • short-sandy hair
  • Average build
  • 5’10 tall

If you have any information regarding this incident, please call the Kelowna RCMP.
