COG shuts down City Park

With Center of Gravity just around the corner, there will be limited access to City Park in downtown Kelowna over the next few days.

Starting Wednesday, the beach volleyball courts, the sports field and a portion of the beach will be closed to the public. The south end of the lakefront promenade and the City Park parking lot will also be fully closed beginning Wednesday.

Once the festival begins on Friday, street parking along Abbott Street, between Bernard and Leon avenues will be closed to accommodate tour busses and shuttle busses. In addition, Abbott Street, between Bernard and Leon avenues and Bernard Avenue, between Water and Abbott streets will be fully closed from 9:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Friday to Sunday to allow concert-goers a safe walk away from the festival. RCMP will be on scene to direct traffic.

Center of Gravity will be bringing some big names to Kelowna this weekend. Knife Party and Zeds Dead will be headlining Friday night, Flo Rida and Phantogram will headline Saturday night, and Diplo and Atmosphere will headline Sunday night. A full list of artists and sports events can be found at the Center of Gravity website here.

In addition to the musical acts, there will be a number of sports that attendees can participate in, including zorb soccer, flyboarding, volleyball and basketball. A number of pro athletes will be there as well, showing off their skills in freestyle motocross, wakeboarding, skateboarding, BMX biking, and snowmobiling.

The festivities kick off Friday at 10 a.m.
