A police incident shut down a portion of Leon Avenue between Richter Street and Ethel Street at 7:30 p.m. this evening.
Over ten police vehicles were on scene, as police swarmed around the apartment building at 777 Leon Ave.
A witness said one police cruiser was originally sitting outside the building alone.
“He was by himself, walking towards the building, making a call on his radio,” the witness, a nearby resident, said. “Within a minute everybody just flooded in here, no sirens, just lights.”
The witness said two police officers were in “tactical outfits” with semi-automatic weapons and another officer had a shotgun.
By 8:00 p.m., approximately half of the police cruisers had left the scene, and the road was reopened to vehicles.
A Kelowna Fire Department engine was on scene, one block away from the apartment building.
