SD23 hires new boss

The Central Okanagan school district will have a new face at the top.

Kevin Kaardal has been hired by School District 23 to take over the superintendent's position.

Kaardal will replace Hugh Gloster who is retiring in December. Kaardal was most recently superintendent in the Burnaby school district.

In a news release issued Friday morning the board stated,

"Mr. Gloster plans on retiring in December, so the starting date and transition period for Mr. Kaardal will be determined later. The Board appreciates the lead time that Mr. Gloster provided, which has resulted in a decision before schools close for the summer.

"While the Board recognizes that it will be difficult to have Mr. Gloster leave the district, Trustees are excited about the opportunities this new appointment provides for the Central Okanagan School District."

Gloster has been superintendent of School District 23 since taking over for Mike Roberts Aug. 1, 2009.
