Some Kelowna Secondary School grads are choosing a unique way to celebrate.
Rather than pranks and parties, the KSS Me to We Club is fundraising to build a school for poor children in Ghana.
A Fresh Air Cafe event Thursday will feature live music, food and refreshments by donation. The event runs from 5:30-8 p.m. in front of the school.
"Every grad class wants to leave a legacy," says group member Nicole Johnston. "Some choose wild parties, while others prefer graffiti or grad pranks ... Although these options may leave a lasting impression, the impact they have is not positive. This year, the graduating class at Kelowna Secondary School is dedicated to leaving a positive legacy that will hopefully inspire future generations of grads."
Tickets to the Fresh Air Cafe are $5 and can be purchased at the door. All proceeds go directly to the Ghana school project.
Students, parents and the public are all welcome.
