Fire ignites in garage

Update: 5:20 p.m.

Officials have located the owner of the condo, who was not at home when a fire ignited inside the garage. 

Fire crews were told there were two cats inside the house at the time of the blaze. One cat was located in the house however a large white long haired cat, has not been found. The cat is suspected to be hiding in the house or outside in the neighborhood.

Three fire engines, a rescue truck, safety, and command vehicle responded with a total of 16 fire personnel.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time but not considered to be suspicious.


No one was home when a fire ignited inside a garage at a condo on Wyndam Court, Monday afternoon.

Fire crews responded after receiving reports of black smoke coming from the garage of an attached condo complex.

Platoon Captain Steve Wallick, says firefighters extinguished the flames quickly and stopped the fire from spreading into the home or any adjoining units.

“There is fire damage in the garage, but it is contained to the garage.”

Wallick says there were no pets in the home, and no vehicle in the garage.

The cause of the blaze is not known, and officials were working to contact the home owners while Castanet was on scene.
