Care home gets new garden

Kelowna's David Lloyd Jones Home is beginning an initiative to beautify its grounds.

A new outdoor garden space for its residents will soon spring up at the home at 934 Bernard Avenue.

“We are truly blessed to live in an area where we can enjoy the outdoors virtually year round.  Those who call David Lloyd Jones home need an accessible and attractive outdoor area to enjoy with their friends and families," says residential manager Jonathan Clare.

The garden space will be located in front of the building off the sidewalk, adding to the beautification of Bernard Ave, and be appreciated by residents and pedestrians alike.

Project costs are estimated at $45,000, over half of which have been generously donated by the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 26.

The KGH Foundation will be raising the remaining $20,000 and is currently accepting donations from family members and the community.

“Having a garden area gets people outside; to breathe the air and let people know they are a part of the world," says one of the residents.
