RCMP search for child lurer

A warning has been issued after an unknown man allegedly attempted to lure a young boy in Kelowna last week.

RCMP Const. Kris Clark says the incident happened Feb. 26, about 2:30 p.m.

A 10-year-old boy was approached while riding his scooter near Gramiak Road and Mary Court, just a few blocks from Springvalley School.

The man asked the boy if he wanted to talk and stated his house was just down the street. The boy ignored him, but then the man asked if they could meet later.

He is also believed to have been seen near the school earlier that day, and was last seen heading eastbound on Saskatoon Road.

The unknown man is described as:

  • Caucasian male
  • 40-50 years old
  • Thin build
  • Greying moustache

He was last seen wearing:

  • A long navy blue or black jacket
  • Black jeans
  • Toque
  • Sunglasses
  • Gloves

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Kelowna RCMP.
