Balmy weather on the horizon

Okanagan residents could be in for the year's first dose of warmer weather this weekend.

Despite a 60 per cent chance of snow through Saturday, the forecast is calling for temperatures of 10 C on Sunday followed by nine degrees on Monday.

Environment Canada meteorologist Jennifer Hay says it's all due to tropical air from the south.

"What's developing toward the end of the weekend is a nice ridge of high pressure across the western U.S.," Hay said. "So as weather systems go up and over that, we get a really strong southerly flow coming into B.C."

Hay said Kelowna residents can expect warmer temperatures through Tuesday, but after that should expect more seasonal (colder) weather.

Kamloops looks like the hotspot with a forecast of 13 C on Sunday.
