Families urged to unplug and play

Families will be encouraged to balance technology use with time with family, creative pursuits, recreation and nature during Unplug and Play Week.

Events will take place Jan. 25-31 throughout the Central Okanagan.

The Interior Savings sponsored week is being co-ordinated with the United Way's Success by 6 program, CATCH, and Partners for Literacy.

“The United Way knows that one of the most impactful strategies for creating a healthy society in the future is to invest in our children’s development. By building a supportive community we can promote positive opportunities for families to participate in healthy ways,” says United Way executive director Shelley Gilmore.

Children today are increasingly connecting to technology and disconnecting from themselves, their close relationships, and nature. Parents are encouraged to participate in the community activities and reconnect.
