House fire in Ellison

The Kelowna Fire Department responded to a house fire at 17-6100 Old Vernon Road at around 9:20 Wednesday night..

Ellison Fire Department was first on scene. They reported smoke coming from the basement of the house. The one occupant of the house was outside. Engine 3 from Kelowna arrived and took over command. Two attack teams entered the building and put out the fire. No injuries were reported and no pets in the house.

The fire was contained to the basement, but smoke damage was heavy throughout the house.

The fire departments responded with three engines and 14 personnel.

At this time the cause is unknown, investigators will be on scene tomorrow.

The Kelowna Fire Department would like to remind everyone to make sure their smoke detectors work.
