Couch fire spreads to home

The Kelowna Fire Department responded to a report of a couch on fire in the carport of a residence at 1267 Graham Street Friday morning.

When they arrived, just after 1 a.m., the fire had spread to one side of a duplex and they called in additional units. They were able to contain the fire to one side of the duplex.

There are no reports of any injuries, but Emergency Social Services were called to look after eight residents and one dog from the two sides of the duplex.

Three engines, one rescue vehicle, one command vehicle and a safety officer responded to the scene, BCAS, RCMP and Fortis also attended.

The cause of the fire is unknown, fire investigators will be on scene today.
