Power restored

7:45 p.m. Update:

FortisBC says power was restored to all customers around 7 p.m. 


4:05 p.m. Update:

FortisBC says they have restored power to 6,000 of the 10,000 customers who lost service at 2:50 p.m. Thursday. They are working to have the remaining 4,000 back on line as soon as they can.


3:21 p.m.: FortisBC says 10,000 customers are without power in Kelowna.

Grace Pickell, FortisBC spokesperson says the power went out around 2:50 p.m.

"Crews are assessing damage at one of our substations where a malfunction occurred."

FortisBC says they will have more information on when power will be restored once crews finish the investigation.

The outage runs from Hwy. 97 to Rutland and into East Kelowna.

There are multiple reports of traffic problems because traffic lights are out along Hwy. 33 and in East Kelowna.
