Dairy truck smashes sedan

A two-vehicle crash has slowed afternoon traffic and sent two to hospital in Kelowna.

According to RCMP on the scene, a green sedan was heading southbound on Harvey (Hwy. 97) in the HOV lane crossing through the intersection at Gordon when it was struck.

A northbound Dutchman Dairy Ltd. Freezer truck was attempting to make a left onto Gordon when it hit the car.

RCMP say the Dutchman truck failed to yield to the sedan and made the left turn when it was not safe striking the car.

The sedan was hit with such force that it smashed the driver’s side and pushed the vehicle up the road onto Gordon.

The driver and passenger of the sedan were taken to Kelowna General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the commercial truck was not injured.

RCMP say the truck driver will be issued a ticket for failing to yield.

Traffic is affected and movement is slow through downtown Kelowna.
