2014 Pride parade and festival
The 2014 Kelowna pride week festival was held in City Park on Saturday.
The small parade began in Stuart Park and led up the path to City park where live entertainment, vendors, information booths, a beer garden and a huge group of people crammed into the area near the Bennett bridge.
Ages ranged from small children to the elderly and everyone appeared to be having a good time, despite the occasional drizzle of rain and the sun, which was in hiding.
Cat Thompson said this was his first pride parade in Kelowna.
"It's very small in this town, we don't have a huge community like we do in Vancouver but I mean everyone comes out and it's just a good, feel-good moment for everyone," he said.
"It's really heartening to see the entire community see that this is a good, happy thing. A lot of the hate around it seems to be gone."
