Triathlon volunteers needed

Organizers of this weekend's Kelowna Apple Triathlon are putting out one last call for volunteers.

Event organizers say 104 bike marshals for Saturday and Sunday and 36 run marshals are urgently needed for the event.

Volunteers are eligible for a number of prizes to be given out at a volunteer party including a tickets on Air Canada anywhere in Continental North America where Air Canada flies.

The 32 annual race weekend kicks off Saturday morning with try-a-tri, youth and junior elite races.

Age group, spring and Olympic distance races begin at 7:15 Sunday morning followed by elite female (11:30) and elite male (1 p.m.) races.

According to race organizers more than 1,100 people have registered for races this weekend including nearly 800 for Sunday's events.

Several road closures are in effect for the weekend to accommodate the races.
