A 79-year-old woman received minor injuries after she was the victim of a purse snatching Monday morning in the Badke Road area of Rutland.
Police say the woman was walking home with a folding cart full of groceries around 10 a.m. when she was pushed to the ground by a male suspect who then stole her purse.
A nearby resident witnessed the incident and called police.
The suspect fled the scene on foot along a walkway towards Hollywood Road N.
He is described as:
- Caucasian
- 20 to 25 years of age
- Athletic
- Short black hair
- Wearing dark longer shorts, and no shirt
The victim sustained minor injuries as a result of the fall and was transported to Kelowna General Hospital for further assessment.
