Midnight motorcycle crash

The driver of a motorcycle is injured and his bike in pieces after an incident involving a car early Saturday morning.

Just after 12 a.m. crews were called to the intersection of Clifton Road and Clement Avenue for a man down after crashing his motorcycle.

Details on what happened between the vehicle and the motorcycle are unclear. But when Kelowna Fire Department arrived, the man was moving his legs but laying on Clifton Road complaining of back and abdominal pain.

Several people nearby attended the scene to try and help the man before emergency crews arrived.

A group of young men and women picked up the pieces of the bike and moved it off the street. One young woman stayed with the man on the ground and supported his neck until the fire truck arrived.

The extent of his injuries is unknown. But emergency crews put a cervical collar on him and sent him to hospital.

Clifton Road was closed for a little more than half an hour during the incident.

It is unknown whether drugs or alcohol were a factor.
