The Kelowna Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 4624 Lakeshore Road Sunday morning at around 12:30 a.m..
Upon arrival, crews found heavy black smoke coming from the vents of the roof of the vacant commercial building.
The fire was located in the basement of building and was contained to the basement but smoke damage was extensive throughout the building.
KFD responded with four engines and 25 personnel, also on scene were BC Ambulance paramedics, RCMP and FortisBC.
Dale Calhoun, Platoon Captain, says, "The fire does appear to be suspicious and the cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
Kelowna Fire department investigators will be on scene this morning (Sunday) to determine the cause of fire."
