Person of interest sought

Kelowna RCMP are looking to speak with an elderly woman caught in the middle of a police incident in the Home Hardware parking lot on Springfield Road last month.

Police say the woman was nearly hit by a vehicle fleeing capture by police.

The incident occurred about 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 18 when RCMP attempted to conduct a traffic stop in the store's parking lot.

"A 32-year-old Kelowna man, at large on outstanding warrants and believed to be actively evading capture, had been tracked by police to the parking lot," says Cst. Kris Clark.

"Investigators used their vehicles to box in the silver Saturn SL1 he was driving but he hit a police car and fled the area at a high rate of speed."

Clark says the suspect vehicle nearly hit an elderly woman who was walking in the parking lot at the time.

Police were unable to locate the woman but are still looking to speak with her.

The woman in question, or anyone who might know of her identity, are asked to contact Cst. Celli at 250-762-3300.
