Water Street's wknd. opening

Beginning Friday, June 27, at 7 p.m. until Wednesday July 3 at 6 a.m., Water Street at Queensway will temporarily reopen to accommodate the expected increase in activity downtown over the long weekend.

Eastbound traffic on Queensway between Water and Pandosy streets will be open to pedestrians and one-way traffic only with parking. The intersection at Water Street will operate as a new roundabout.

Mill Street will remain closed at Queensway with on-street parking and the boat launch remaining accessible via Bernard Avenue.

The Queensway transit exchange will continue in the temporary location on Ellis Street and Doyle Avenue. Kelowna transit routes and schedules can be viewed at www.bctransit.com/regions/kel.

After the Canada Day holiday, the Water Street roundabout will close for remaining works with completion of the intersection treatments expected in July. Work will continue along the north side of Queensway between Water and Pandosy streets which will remain closed until expected completion at the end of August.

Drivers are urged to obey signage and traffic personnel. The City of Kelowna thanks residents, businesses and commuters for their patience.
