Lambo, Vette & R8 impounded

On your mark! Get set! Pullover!

Three luxury sports cars were impounded after police saw them speeding down Highway 97 Sunday.

An RCMP officer in a marked car was stopped at the gas station on Harvey Avenue and Spall Road when he observed the cars accelerate past him, says Cst. Kris Clark.

“The officer followed the trio southbound on Harvey Avenue and watched as they accelerated quickly from stops and appeared to be racing each other through town,” he says.

“The officer activated the emergency equipment on his police vehicle and stopped the three cars near Richter Street for the offense of street racing.”

Each of the three cars – a black Audi R8, yellow Lamborghini, and red 1966 Corvette – were impounded for a minimum of seven days and the drivers were ticketed for driving without due care, and issued a 15-day driving prohibition.

Vehicles impounded for street racing may also be subject to forfeiture under the Civil Forfeiture Act.

Clark adds that all three cars were apparently on their way to a car show.
