Kelowna Bear Captured

This one is going to get a second chance.

Conservation officers, with a little help from the RCMP have managed to snag a black bear.

The bruin was first spotted in the Knox Mountain area early Tuesday morning rummaging through garbage.

Following numerous calls, RCMP and their helicopter managed to track the animal down at the back of Parkinson Rec Centre where it was cornered up a tree.

Conservation officers tranquilized the bear which ended up being wedged in the tree. Staff at the Rec Centre brought some mattresses, which were instrumental in breaking the bear's fall.

The bear was tagged and trucked away.

Conservation officers usually don't relocate nuisance bears, but they're making an exception with this one because it doesn’t have a history.
