Cadillac smashes light pole

A car crash partially snarled traffic on Highway 97 near Dilworth in Kelowna Saturday.

The driver said that another car cut him off, leaving a mark down the side of his black Cadillac, before he lost control and smashed into the light pole.

That claim could not be confirmed at the scene.

The occupants were upset, but unhurt. The car on the other hand suffered extensive damage to the front end.

According to emergency crews on the scene, "the light pole was leaning and compromised," and the city and Fortis had been notified to come make sure it was not a danger to the public.

Eastbound traffic on Harvey was moving slowly near Orchard Park, but no roads were closed except for a small section of the HOV lane where the Cadillac came to rest.

RCMP did not say drugs or alcohol were considered a factor.

A tow truck was arriving just before noon to remove the vehicle.
