Crash results in car fire

Video by Aaron Noble and Cassie

No injuries following a spectacular two car collision at Hwy 97 and Spall Road in Kelowna early Monday evening.

Just past 6 p.m. a black Ram truck and black Mustang collided in the intersection sending the car off the road and into a tree which made up part of the landscaping in front of the ESSO gas station.

Fire Department captain, Mike Brownlee, says the impact with the tree caused the car to catch fire.

Brownlee says crews were able to extinguish the fire quickly before it could spread throughout the bushes and shrubs.

There was only a bit of damage to the base of the tree.

Brownlee added there was never any danger the fire would spread to the gas station itself.

There were no serious injuries from the collision.
