  • 2014-06-02 @ 04:24 Fastenal, 801 Dalton Road

On June 1, 2014 at 10:05 p.m., the Kelowna RCMP received a report of a commercial alarm at the Columbia Bottle Depot located at 1988 Kirschner Road. When police arrived they discovered that the complex had been broken into and the office area had been rummaged through. Nothing appeared to be taken but a suspect was captured on video.
The suspect is described as:

  • Caucasian male
  • Facial stubble with a slight moustache
  • Wearing hooded jacket, blue jeans, brown shoes and work gloves

Original story: 8:30 a.m.: One of those businesses hit was Fastenal Canada, an industrial and construction supply company located on Dalton Road. The front door to the business had been completely shattered and general manager Marc Wilson says over $1,000 worth of tools were stolen.

“There was a big saw right here,” as Wilson gestures to an empty space of floor directly in front of the broken front door.

“That was close to $1,000. And then I have to wait for my other employees to get here; they have a list of the showroom that we’ve just been changing around. So they’ll know exactly what was here.”

Wilson then points to a wall at the back of the store that now has empty spaces where power tools used to be displayed.

He says he got a call early Monday morning from their alarm company and has been at the shop since 4:30 a.m.

And this isn’t the first time they’ve been broken into.

“Maybe once a year,” says Wilson.

“They’ve come through this window one time. And we have three trucks that we park in the back now. But we used to have them parked on the side, and at least once a year, maybe twice a year they would get broken into. The spare tires had been stolen off them, and that kind of thing.”

Kelowna RCMP have yet to release information on the robberies, but Wilson says a file has been started and he was told they were the fourth business robbed.

In each case the businesses alarm was triggered and police responded.

He hopes the neighbouring shop was able to catch the thief(s) on their security camera.
