FormaShape, a Kelowna-based fibreglass manufacturer, is expanding its workforce in Canada, Latin America, Asia and bringing new jobs to Kelowna.
Bren Steele, vice president of business development at FormaShape said, “for the first time in our 25 year history, we have sales from new products matching our sales from traditional waterslide products.”
The growth has resulted in new positions being offered in their Kelowna operations, which used to revolve around the waterslide season.
Now with a more diverse product and customer base, FormaShape expects to hire seven to eight more people every week from May to September, resulting in more than 100 jobs being created in both manufacturing and administrative support.
“We are also adding new postings every day for skilled labour with experience in fibreglass fabrication, automotive body work, mould building and 5 axis machine operators,” said Karen Wantke in human resources at FormaShape.
There are currently three postings on their website.
FormaShape previously focused their business on manufacturing waterslides, but in recent years has expanded their business to include amusement park rides, radio telescopes, automotive body panels and Hollywood film productions.
They have also signed a long-term supply contract with one of the largest petroleum brands in South America.
