Assault suspect apprehended

A 22-year-old Kelowna man is facing a number of criminal charges, including assault, after an early morning incident Thursday.
Shortly after 2:30 a.m police were called to the scene of a reported assault, which had just occurred at a home in the 500 block of Girard Road.

A 22-year-old Kelowna man apparently engaged in a verbal altercation with a resident of the home before assaulting her and another male resident.

The suspect fled the scene on foot, but was later located nearby through the combined efforts of uniformed officers and a Police Service Dog.
He was found to be in possession of a man's mountain bike that police believe was taken from a property in the area of Bach Road and Hemlock Road.
The suspect faces possible criminal charges of Assault, Uttering Threats, Theft Under $5,000 and Mischief Under $5,000.

He was later released and he is to be in court on August 21.
Police are looking to return the recovered bicycle to its owner.
