ORIGINAL STORY:

A couple of Kelowna kids will become the youngest competitors this weekend at Mudd, Sweat & Tears.

The well-known endurance race is supposedly for competitor’s aged 16 and over, but an exception was made for Ella Rolleston and Ana Large of Anne McClymont Elementary School. Both girls are only 11-years-old and in Grade 5.

Both girls have a long list of athletic accomplishments, including being members of the Ogopogo Triathlon Club, the Kelowna AquaJets Swim Club and they both play soccer. Rolleston is a member of the Kelowna Water Ski Team, while Large, skis with the Big White Racers alpine team.

The girls were allowed to compete after contacting race organizers and outlining their plea. After some discussion they were given the go ahead.

MST Kelowna takes place this Saturday at Crystal Mountain Resort. Particpants can choose from either a 6km or 12 km racecourse.
