Hit and run driver sought

Police are searching for a suspect after a 28-year-old Lake Country man was sent to hospital early Monday morning following a two vehicle hit and run crash.

The crash occurred shortly after 7:30 Monday morning at the intersection of Highway 97 and Sexsmith Road.

A red 4 door Infiniti passenger car had entered into the south bound lanes of Highway 97 when it was struck from behind by a Ford Ranger pick-up truck. The passenger car then veered to the right and collided with the rear of a flat deck trailer parked along the side of the highway, causing significant front end damage.

The driver of the pick-up truck failed to remain at the scene of the crash.

The driver of the Inifniti, a 28-year-old man from Lake Country, sustained non-life threatening injuries as a result of the collision and was transported by BC Ambulance Service to Kelowna General Hospital for treatment.

Police are asking for the public's assistance in identifying the suspect vehicle and it's driver.

The suspect vehicle is described as:

  • Dark blue or purple in colour
  • Early 2000's model Ford Ranger pick-up truck
  • Canopy
  • Likely has damage to the front passenger side.

Police are also looking to speak with anyone who may have witnessed this collision and are asking anyone with any information to contact Cst. Jesse O'Donaghey of the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300.
