Mock search near KGH

If you notice a large number of search and rescue volunteers near KGH Saturday no need for alarm.

The Central Okanagan Search and Rescue team will be performing a mock urban search within a 10 to 15 block radius of Kelowna General Hospital from 8 a.m. until no later than 2 p.m. Saturday.

COSAR officials say teams will be walking, biking and driving around neighbourhoods in the area and rescue boats will be travelling up and down the shoreline looking for a possible missing person or persons.

"We will be practicing our standard  search patterns and plans," says COSAR vice president, Duane Tresnich.

"COSAR will be joined by students from the JIBC paramedic academy and other various emergency agencies."

If anyone wishes to help feel free to come out and offer the team the chance to do a mock search in your yard or in any other place a person could hide outside your residence.

Or please send an email to [email protected].

COSAR will also be tweeting the exercise through @okrescue and providing updates and pictures of the exercise.
